Minister of Membership and Support - Rev. John Mathis

Rev. John Mathis was born July 23, 1941 in Bellville, Texas.  He is married to Clementene D. McDonald Mathis.    From 1983 – 1989 he served as Minister of Education and Assistant to the Pastor of Holiday Hills Baptist Church.  During this time, he supervised the activities of the Sunday School, Church Training, Vacation Bible School and the Annual Bible Study.  From 1989 – 1992 he was the Pastor of Little Zion Missionary Baptist Church, Rotan, Texas.  He Served as Dean of Congress of Christian Education of the Progressive West Texas Missionary Baptist District Association from 1991 – 1992 where he directed the educational activities of the Congress.  From 1992 – 1997 he was the Pastor of Mount Moriah Missionary Baptist Church, Abilene, Texas.  During his leadership he initiated the acquisition of rental property and additional off street parking.  Served as First Vice President of the Congress of Christian Education and Historian for the West Texas Missionary Baptist District Association.


Minister of Christian Education, Evangelism and Outreach - Rev. Gregory Davis

Rev. Davis was born February 21, 1960 to Mr. and Mrs. Matthew E. Davis of Houston, Texas.  He is the father of 4 children and is Married to Alene B. Davis.  He was called into the ministry in December of 1998, Licensed August 13, 2000 and ordained May 12, 2002.  He received his education in Business Administration at the University of Houston and from Texas School of Theology. 

From 2002 – 2005 he was the youth pastor at Zion Hill Missionary Baptist Church in Houston, Texas where he also started an outreach ministry “Taking It To The Streets”.  He was also the President of the Brotherhood at Zion Hill Missionary Baptist Church from 1999 – 2007.  Rev. Davis states that ministry is not just something he does but it defines who he is.  He has a heartfelt passion for being heavily involved in developing policies and sparking creative and effective strategies for helping the people of God experience new life in Christ.  He has dedicated his life to the training and equipping of individuals in the process s of sanctification so that they too can experience the fulfillment that comes with a relationship with Jesus Christ.  Rev. Davis joined the ministerial staff of Rising Star in 2007.


Minster of Membership and Support - Rev. Gary Mustiful

Rev. Gary Mustiful was born January 5, 1968, to the parents of C.L. and Dorothy Mustiful of San Antonio Texas. He is the youngest of four children and accepted Christ at an early age.  He is a graduate of Texas StateUniversity with B.S. in Criminal Justice and a M.S. of Criminal Justice Management where he met his wife Charlotte of Austin Texas of 16 years.  They have 3 beautiful children Miles (10), Mitchell (7), and Mykah (5).
Rev. Mustiful accepted his call in 2009 to preach the gospel at the age of 40 after many years of service in the church.  He is currently employed with Harris County as the Court Coordinator for 248th District Court.  He believes that every day we have an opportunity to minister through our daily lives and to always let your light so shine.
